Summer schools at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland
PANORAMIX was represented at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) by George Danezis and Aggelos Kiayias who both gave research talks at respectively the Summer Research Institute (SuRI) and the Swiss Blockchain Summer School in June 2017.
The Summer Research Institute 2017 (14 – 20 June) is an annual event that brings together renowned researchers and experts from academia and industry. This year it featured two tracks: 1) Data Science and 2) Security and Privacy. PANORAMIX was represented in the second track with a talk by George Danezis “Foiling on-line surveillance: new developments in anonymous communications and their applications“.
The Swiss Blockchain Summer School 2017 (21 – 24 June) took place directly after SuRI and is an event aimed at bringing together students (Master- and PhD-level), academic researchers, and security experts from industry with an interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Aggelos Kiayias presented work on “Proving the Security of Blockchain Protocols: From Proof of Work to Proof of Stake”.
Summer school in Jerusalem, Israel
After his presentation at EPFL, George Danezis travelled to Jerusalem to talk at the 2nd Hebrew University Networking Summer (June 18,20-22). This event brings together networking researchers from the United States, Europe and Israel to attend tutorials about important and timely topics in network security given by world renowned experts.
